Summary

CHS Inc. has a new opportunity in our Energy division for a Vice President, Lubricants. As part of the energy leadership team, you will be responsible for creating and executing the strategic approach within lubricants by providing direction and leadership in all aspects of CHS Lubricants facility locations, with emphasis on safety, efficiency, regulatory compliance, long-range strategic planning, and business development.  Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Product Lines, the VP, Lubricants will be a strategic partner to energy leadership. The successful candidate is a change leader with proven success driving operational excellence and innovation. In addition, you must be an effective leader who is inspired to motivate a diverse group of employees to work as a team to accomplish strategic goals for the organization.   

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement growth and strategic plans for Lubricants, along with associated goals and targets for the Lubricants leadership team.  Formulate and track KPI’s to evaluate efficiency and overall effectiveness of the Lubricants operations platform to optimize profitability.  Identify and implement best practices. 
  • Responsible for the operational financial performance of the businesses, resource allocation, budgeting, capital planning and expenditures.  
  • Establish a culture of high engagement that promotes teamwork and continuous improvement. Responsible for professional development of employees and creating a talent pipeline and succession plan.   
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of operating facilities and industry best practices to strategically lead cross-functional teams to create a consistent operating approach across all lubricants facilities.  
  • Represent lubricants through involvement and collaboration with CHS enterprise-wide initiatives.  Build and maintain positive working relations with industry groups, key customers, and other CHS business units.  
  • Champion and promote a strong safety culture and follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulations; identify and communicate workplace hazards; correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions in the workplace.  

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • Bachelors degree in business, engineering, operations, economics, or related field 
  • 12+ years of relevant experience with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Experience in the energy or agriculture industry

Additional Qualifications

  • Lubricants experience preferred
  • Understanding of Energy business and competitive strategies, operation strengths and weaknesses, short and long-term vulnerabilities with strong ability to make strategic decisions and influence leaders to adopt best practices 
  • Experience with and responsibility for manufacturing operations
  • Management experience in a union work environment preferred
  • Knowledge in developing a strategy to prioritize employee engagement for current and new leadership within the organization
  • Strong written and oral communication skills including superior communication skills at the executive level and ability to clearly and confidently communicate strategy and tactics to personnel at multiple organizational levels
  • Capital project development and project management experience
  • Fiscal responsibility for controlling business expenses and financial performance
  • Knowledge in developing a strategy to prioritize employee engagement for current and new leadership within the organization
  • Proven problem solving, analytical, and strategy development skills
  • Experience executing large, multi-functional, and cross-organizational assignments, making strategic decision and influencing leaders to adopt best practices

Physical Requirements

  • Travel up to 25%

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications.
