Summary

CHS  has an exciting opportunity at our Oil Refinery facility in Laurel, MT. In this role, you will support and enhance the refinery’s safety management system, with a strong focus on Process Safety Management (PSM) in alignment with OSHA 1910.119 standards. You will lead incident investigations, facilitate lessons-learned programs, and champion continuous improvement in safety performance and culture.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the refinery safety management/incident tracking system and coordinate compliance with individual management system element owners.
  • Maintain process safety policies, including review and revision as needed.
  • Coordinate bimonthly management review of established key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Complete specific safety tasks as assigned, including supporting refinery turnaround and shutdown maintenance events.
  • Fill role of Refinery Risk Register Owner, Risk Assessment Policy, evaluating events, audit and investigation findings, and facility risks per refinery policies.
  • Lead the refinery event investigation program, including maintaining the Event Reporting and Investigation Policy, evaluating incidents, near misses, and good catches that are reported, and leading investigations per the policy.
  • Assist with the development of event corrective actions and entry of action plans from a variety of sources into the action plan software system.
  • Coordinate incident investigation training with employees as necessary.
  • Perform emergency response duties including participation in drills and exercises.
  • Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (required)

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of oil and gas refinery operations experience and/or education/training

Additional Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree
  • 5+ years of refinery operations experience and/or education/training
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts
  • Experience with management systems such as OHSAS 18001:2007, ISO 14001:2004, ISO 50001, and/or Six Sigma
  • Proficient with PRiSM, Enablon, Maximo, MS Office, and SharePoint
  • Pre-employment screening is based on the job requirements and industry guidelines and may or may not be required for the position. Physical Requirements

  • Ability to wear PPE, including respirator

  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs

  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, climb, and balance

CHS offers a competitive total rewards package. Compensation includes base wage and, depending upon position, may include other earnings such as bonus, incentives and commissions. Actual pay offered will vary based on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, experience, education, training, specialized skills and certifications, minimum wage/salary requirements under local law.
